Chatgpt Grow vs Koala AI

Koala AI is the cheapest credible entry point in this category and one of the largest: 20,000+ paying customers, a free 5,000-word allowance with no card, and a $9 tier that writes articles at a price nothing else here matches. Come up to $99 a month and it does what we do — schedules the batch, writes each article and publishes it to your CMS without anyone pressing a button.

So the useful comparison is not “can it publish for you”. Both can. It is what the article contains, what happens after it goes out, and how the price behaves when you turn the volume up. Koala wins several of those outright, and one of them is price.

The short version

Choose Koala AI if

  • You want the most words per dollar, and you are happy to pick the keywords and the outline yourself
  • You publish to Shopify or Webflow, or you want a signed JSON webhook so Zapier or Make can route the article anywhere
  • You want your keyword, backlink and competitor data inside the same subscription instead of paying Ahrefs or Semrush separately
  • You need 100+ publishing languages, or you build affiliate content and want live Amazon data in the article

Choose Chatgpt Grow if

  • You want the evidence inside the article to be original — commissioned for that topic, with a public report — rather than assembled from what already ranks
  • You want a seven-dimension quality scorecard on the finished article, including how AI-detectable it reads, before it publishes
  • You want Search Console read per article, so a piece of content and its impressions, clicks and average position sit in the same place
  • You have no CMS, and you want the blog hosted for you on your own subdomain rather than a webhook you have to wire up

What is Koala AI?

An AI article writer sold by word credits, with an SEO data subscription and a publishing autopilot bundled into the same plan.

Koala AI is six products on one subscription: KoalaWriter for articles, KoalaChat, KoalaImages, KoalaLinks for internal linking, KoalaMagnets for lead-capture tools, and Brand DNA, the agent layer that holds your brand context and answers questions about your site. KoalaWriter itself analyses the SERP for the target keyword, folds in the entities and semantic terms the top-ranking pages share, and writes in one of seven styles and four points of view — or in your own tone, if you give it one. There is an outline editor if you want to reorder the H2s first, a rewriting mode for articles you already have, and a Polish pass that edits for readability and SEO after the draft.

The pricing is word-based, and the arithmetic is worth reading twice. Free covers 5,000 words. Essentials is $9 for 15,000 words a month. Professional is $49 for 100,000 words, and is the tier where Brand DNA appears in preview, Search Console and Analytics join the same dashboard, and KoalaLinks covers up to 50 sites. Boost is $99 for 250,000 words and the full agent, and it is the tier where Content Calendar Autopilot starts: plan a batch of articles, and the agent schedules each one, writes it and auto-publishes it to your linked CMS on the date it was scheduled for. Above that the plans scale by volume rather than by feature — $179 for 500,000 words, $350 for a million, up to $2,000 for 10 million words and 75 brands. Two footnotes matter: annual billing takes 20% off, and the word counts are quoted at 1x. The newer models count at 2x and 3x, so 250,000 words is 250,000 only while you stay on the cheap one.

Where Koala AI shines

  • Content Calendar Autopilot at $99: plan a batch, and the agent schedules, writes and auto-publishes to your linked CMS on the scheduled date
  • The SEO data is included instead of resold — ranking keywords, keyword ideas and gaps, search volume, SERP analysis, backlink profiles and traffic estimates, with no Ahrefs or Semrush subscription
  • 100+ publishing languages on every plan, from the cheapest tier up
  • KoalaLinks Autopilot watches your site for new posts, then adds internal links and entity schema automatically, across up to 50 sites
  • Publishes one-click to WordPress (multiple sites), Shopify, Webflow and Ghost, with a signed JSON webhook for anything else
  • A genuinely free start: 5,000 words and 25 credits, no card, and a 15-day refund window on the first paid plan
  • Extras we do not have: Amazon affiliate articles on live product data, automatic YouTube embedding, country geotargeting, and email-gated lead magnets

Where Koala AI falls short

  • Word credits, not articles. What a month actually produces depends on the model you pick — 1x, 2x or 3x — so $99 buys 250,000 words on the cheap model and roughly 83,000 on the expensive one
  • No per-article quality scorecard. The Polish pass edits the draft for readability and SEO, but it does not return a score you can compare from one article to the next
  • Nothing watches pages you have already published for decay. Rewriting mode works on an article you paste in; no one is looking for the ones slipping
  • No original research. Deep Research gathers what already exists on the topic, which is coverage rather than evidence
  • Credits bought monthly expire at the end of the month — only annual plans roll them over
  • No publishing path for a site with no CMS: there is no hosted blog, just the webhook

What is Chatgpt Grow?

An AI content service that answers the questions your buyers ask — with research behind the answer.

You paste your website once. Chatgpt Grow crawls it, works out what the brand actually sells, finds the competitors already being recommended by AI, and turns that into the buyer questions your site does not answer yet. Those questions become the topics, the topics become a schedule, and one researched article goes out every day.

The part we spend the most on is not the writing. Articles that carry an original number — a survey of 200 buyers, run for that article — are the ones search engines and AI assistants can quote, so the pipeline commissions that research where the topic needs it and publishes the report alongside the article. Every article is then scored on seven editorial dimensions before it goes out, including how AI-detectable it reads and whether the brand is actually named where the question is answered.

Where Chatgpt Grow shines

  • One article a day for $99 a month, with the research commissioned inside the pipeline instead of bolted on
  • Each researched article ships with a public report, so the numbers in it can be checked and cited
  • A seven-dimension quality scorecard that includes an AI-suspicion score and brand-query alignment
  • Buyer questions, competitors and topics come from your own site and your Search Console data, not from a keyword list you have to maintain
  • Search Console is read per article — impressions, clicks and average position — so you can see which pieces earned their place
  • Backlinks come from other brands on the same platform, and you can switch that off per site
  • A public blog on your own subdomain, so a site with no CMS still has somewhere to publish

Where Chatgpt Grow falls short

  • One connected publishing target per site — you cannot push the same article to WordPress and Ghost at once
  • No Shopify, Wix or Framer publishing, and no Zapier, REST API or RSS feed to build around
  • No AI-visibility tracking, so we cannot show you when ChatGPT or Perplexity mentions your brand
  • Nothing watches pages you published elsewhere for decay, and we do not rewrite existing articles automatically
  • Monthly billing only, and no per-site volume discount for agencies
  • 18 publishing languages — fewer than the tools that advertise 40, 50 or 150

Why choose Chatgpt Grow over Koala AI?

Same price, same promise — different thing inside the article

At $99 a month both products will plan a batch, write daily and publish to your blog without you in the loop. Koala gets there with a bigger vocabulary of features around the article: chat, images, lead magnets, Amazon data, YouTube embeds, geotargeting, and an SEO data subscription that would otherwise cost $200 to $500 a month on its own.

The difference is what the article is made of. KoalaWriter reads the pages already ranking for the keyword and writes something that covers the same ground, better structured, with the entities search engines expect. That is a sound way to build coverage, and it is a race against everyone else using the same SERP. Where a topic needs a number that does not exist yet, Chatgpt Grow commissions the research — a survey, a data pull, a test — puts the finding in the article and publishes the report next to it, so the page has a source underneath it that a reader, a link and an AI assistant can all check.

Koala is cheaper per word. We are priced per article.

This one is not close, and it should be said plainly: on raw output, Koala wins. $99 buys 250,000 words on their cheapest model, against roughly 45,000 to 75,000 words in our 30 articles. Even on the 3x model, 83,000 words is more text than we sell, and $9 buys a working trial of the whole thing.

What we are selling instead is a fixed number of finished, scored, research-backed articles. Both models have a catch, and you should pick which one you would rather live with. Ours is that you cannot buy 10 articles to test a hunch. Theirs is that the same $99 produces a third to a half as many words when you switch to a better model, and that the monthly credits you did not spend disappear at the end of the month. If you write by hand and want a cheap engine to draft with, Koala is the better buy and the price difference is large.

Where Koala AI is simply better

Four rows, plainly. It publishes to Shopify, which we do not. Its webhook turns every finished article into signed JSON, so Zapier, Make or a custom CMS can take it anywhere — our only destinations are the four CMSs and our own hosted blog. It exposes an API that writes a whole article in a single call, and we have no API at all. And it discounts annual billing by 20%, where we bill monthly and only monthly.

Two more are worth knowing about even though they are not rows in the table. Bundled keyword, backlink and competitor data is real money not spent elsewhere, and the free allowance is large enough to judge the output before paying anything. If those are your reasons for choosing a tool, the rest of this page will not change your mind, and it should not.

Frequently asked questions

Do Koala AI and Chatgpt Grow do the same job?

At $99 a month, close to it: both plan a batch of articles, write one a day and publish it to your CMS on a schedule. Around that core they differ. Koala bundles more adjacent tools — chat, images, lead magnets, Amazon affiliate articles, an SEO data subscription — and publishes to Shopify. Chatgpt Grow puts commissioned original research and a seven-dimension quality scorecard inside each article, and hosts a blog for you if you have no CMS.

Which is cheaper?

Koala, on almost any measure of raw output. $99 buys 250,000 words a month on their cheapest model, or about 83,000 on the most expensive one, against 30 articles from us at roughly 1,500 to 2,500 words each. Ours works out at $3.30 an article with no model arithmetic and nothing expiring. If price per word is the deciding factor, Koala wins and there is no argument to make.

Does Koala AI do original research?

No. Its Deep Research reads what is already published on the topic and gathers it. That is useful for coverage and for citing sources, but the article contains no finding that did not exist before, so there is nothing in it for another site to link to or an AI assistant to quote as the origin. Commissioning primary research is the single largest thing we spend on, and it is the row neither Koala nor the other tools on this list fills.

Can I see how well a Koala article did?

From the $49 tier, yes — at the account level: Search Console and Analytics sit in the same dashboard as the writing, and the agent reads your clicks, impressions, rankings and keyword performance when you ask it. Chatgpt Grow reads Search Console per article instead, so a published article carries its own impressions, clicks and average position when you decide what to write next. Koala’s advantage is that its numbers include Google Analytics, not just Search Console; ours is that the number belongs to one article rather than to the site.

What happens if I want to stop publishing for a month?

With us, nothing: the plan is monthly and you cancel it. With Koala, the words you did not use are the thing to watch. Credits from a monthly plan expire after a month, while annual plans hand you the whole year up front and roll over leftovers. If your publishing is seasonal, that difference is worth more than the per-word price.
