A fair comparison · Updated September 2026
Chatgpt Grow vs ContentPen
ContentPen is the cheapest way onto this list to get articles written and published for you: $27 a month billed annually for ten articles, direct CMS publishing, and automatic internal and external linking included at that price. Step up to $55 and it adds the thing most tools in this category charge far more for — a dashboard that watches for content decay, falling click-through rate and quick-win opportunities on pages you already have.
It also publishes to more places than most of the tools here, including Ghost, Wix and Shopify, and it connects Google Search Console. So the honest comparison is not whether it can do the job. It is where the article comes from and what you get instead of original research.
The short version
Choose ContentPen if
- Ten articles a month for $27 is the price point you want, and you will pick the topics yourself
- You publish to Wix, Shopify or Ghost, which several tools on this list do not support at all
- You want decay and CTR monitoring without paying for an SEO platform on top
- You want credits you can buy once and keep — the top-up packs do not expire
Choose Chatgpt Grow if
- You want the evidence in the article to be original — commissioned for that topic, with a public report behind it
- You want a per-article quality scorecard before it publishes, not an editing assistant after
- You want Search Console read per article, so a piece of content carries its own impressions and clicks
- You have no CMS, and you want the blog hosted for you rather than a webhook you wire up yourself
What is ContentPen?
A flat-price AI article platform with direct CMS publishing and a content-health dashboard, priced from $27 a month.

ContentPen sells itself on two things: publishing straight into your CMS, and watching what happens to the pages afterwards. Starter, at $27 a month billed annually, gives you ten articles, one workspace, one user, thirty AI images, direct publishing to your CMS, automatic internal and external linking, real-time factual data and automatic SERP analysis. It is a thin plan, but the publishing and the linking are not held back to a higher tier, which is not true of everyone here.
Premium, at $55 a month billed annually, is the tier most people would end up on: thirty articles, three workspaces and three users, a hundred AI images, bulk generation, an AI editing pass, a knowledge base, and an analytics dashboard that names content decay, click-through-rate decline and quick-win opportunities. Agency at $139 raises that to a hundred articles with unlimited workspaces and users, and Enterprise is custom — SSO, custom integrations and API access, and brand voice tuning. Article credits can also be bought as one-off packs from $29 for ten up to $199 for a hundred and fifty, and those do not expire.
Where ContentPen shines
- The cheapest entry point here that still publishes for you: $27 a month for ten articles, with CMS publishing and automatic internal and external linking included
- Content decay, CTR decline and quick-win reporting on the $55 tier — a row most tools here leave empty at any price
- Publishes to WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Shopify and Wix, plus webhooks and a ContentStudio connection for social
- Google Search Console is a named integration rather than something you export by hand
- A knowledge base for brand context on the $55 tier
- One-off credit packs that never expire, from $1.33 a credit at the largest size
Where ContentPen falls short
- No original research. Real-time factual data and automatic SERP analysis mean it reads what already exists before writing, which is coverage rather than a new finding
- No per-article quality scorecard. There is an AI editing pass, but it returns edits, not a score you can compare between articles
- No free tier, only a free trial, so you cannot judge the output over weeks before paying
- Article counts are capped per tier with no unlimited option below Enterprise
- Publishing to a blog hosted for you is not offered — you need a CMS or a webhook
What is Chatgpt Grow?
An AI content service that answers the questions your buyers ask — with research behind the answer.

You paste your website once. Chatgpt Grow crawls it, works out what the brand actually sells, finds the competitors already being recommended by AI, and turns that into the buyer questions your site does not answer yet. Those questions become the topics, the topics become a schedule, and one researched article goes out every day.
The part we spend the most on is not the writing. Articles that carry an original number — a survey of 200 buyers, run for that article — are the ones search engines and AI assistants can quote, so the pipeline commissions that research where the topic needs it and publishes the report alongside the article. Every article is then scored on seven editorial dimensions before it goes out, including how AI-detectable it reads and whether the brand is actually named where the question is answered.
Where Chatgpt Grow shines
- One article a day for $99 a month, with the research commissioned inside the pipeline instead of bolted on
- Each researched article ships with a public report, so the numbers in it can be checked and cited
- A seven-dimension quality scorecard that includes an AI-suspicion score and brand-query alignment
- Buyer questions, competitors and topics come from your own site and your Search Console data, not from a keyword list you have to maintain
- Search Console is read per article — impressions, clicks and average position — so you can see which pieces earned their place
- Backlinks come from other brands on the same platform, and you can switch that off per site
- A public blog on your own subdomain, so a site with no CMS still has somewhere to publish
Where Chatgpt Grow falls short
- One connected publishing target per site — you cannot push the same article to WordPress and Ghost at once
- No Shopify, Wix or Framer publishing, and no Zapier, REST API or RSS feed to build around
- No AI-visibility tracking, so we cannot show you when ChatGPT or Perplexity mentions your brand
- Nothing watches pages you published elsewhere for decay, and we do not rewrite existing articles automatically
- Monthly billing only, and no per-site volume discount for agencies
- 18 publishing languages — fewer than the tools that advertise 40, 50 or 150

Why choose Chatgpt Grow over ContentPen?
Cheaper per article, at every tier
On price per article this is not close. ContentPen Premium is $55 a month for thirty articles, about $1.83 each, and Starter is $27 for ten. Ours works out at $3.30 an article at the everyday price and less on the annual plan. If the deciding factor is the number you can produce for a fixed monthly sum, ContentPen wins and there is nothing to argue about.
The difference you are paying for on our side is one line in the table: the evidence inside the article. ContentPen reads the SERP and the pages already ranking, which is a sound way to build coverage and the same method most tools here use. Where a topic needs a number that does not exist yet, we commission it — a survey, a data pull, a test — and publish the report next to the article, so the page has a source underneath it that a reader, a link and an AI assistant can all check.
ContentPen found the row we also care about
It is worth saying plainly: on published-page health, ContentPen is ahead of most of this list. Naming content decay, CTR decline and quick-win opportunities at $55 a month is the right instinct, because a blog is not a one-way output and the pages that stop working are the cheapest traffic in the account.
The difference is what happens next. ContentPen reports the pages; we score every article before it goes out and rewrite the ones that decay. Those are opposite ends of the same problem, and if a dashboard is what you are missing, ContentPen is the cheaper way to get one.
Where ContentPen is simply better
Three rows, plainly. It is cheaper per article at every tier, with unlimited workspaces and users on Agency rather than per-seat pricing. It publishes to Wix and Shopify, which we do not. And its credit top-ups never expire, where our plan is monthly and only monthly.
Two more worth knowing. Google Search Console is a built-in integration rather than an export, and the knowledge base gives the writer brand context without you re-explaining it each time. If those are the reasons you are choosing a tool, the rest of this page will not change your mind.
Frequently asked questions
Is ContentPen cheaper than Chatgpt Grow?
Yes, on any measure of output. Premium is $55 a month for thirty articles, about $1.83 an article, and Starter is $27 for ten. Ours is $99 a month for thirty articles, $3.30 each. If price per article decides it, ContentPen is the better buy and the difference is large.
Does ContentPen do original research?
No. Its real-time factual data and automatic SERP analysis mean it reads what is already published on the topic, then writes something that covers it. Useful for coverage, and it is what most tools here do — but the article contains no finding that did not exist before, so there is nothing in it for another site to link to or an AI assistant to quote as the origin.
Which CMSs does each one publish to?
ContentPen publishes to WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Shopify and Wix, and via webhooks. We publish to WordPress, WordPress.com, Ghost, Webflow, Notion, Shopify and through a webhook, and we host the blog for you on your own subdomain if you have no CMS. Wix is the row ContentPen has and we do not.
Can I see whether an article worked?
ContentPen connects Google Search Console and reports content decay, CTR decline and quick wins from the $55 tier, which is more than most tools on this list offer at any price. We read Search Console per article instead, so a published article carries its own impressions, clicks and average position when you decide what to write next. ContentPen looks across the site; ours looks at one page.
What happens to unused credits?
With ContentPen, top-up credits bought as one-off packs never expire, while plan allowances are per tier. With us there are no credits: the plan is thirty articles a month, and you cancel it. If your publishing is seasonal, credit packs are the more flexible shape and worth the difference.
